Domain Owners Just Discovered Their AI Superpower

Six months ago, I discovered something that changed how I think about domain investing forever.

I built three professional websites in four hours. Not wireframes. Not mockups. Actual functioning sites that looked like they cost $5,000 each.

This was my first real experiment with vibe coding. I couldn't stop.

When I saw that Dharmesh Shah dropped six figures on VibeCoding.com, I completely understood why he did it. After over two decades in online business, I saw exactly what he was betting on.

The game just changed for anyone who has unused domains, including domain investors who flip them for a living. But most don't realize it yet.

    Everybody Has This Skill

Here's what clicked for me about vibe coding.

Back in 1998, my brother built my first website using Dreamweaver. I gave him the instructions. He executed them.

That was essentially vibe coding. Explaining a website vision to someone else and watching them create it.

The only difference now is I'm explaining to AI instead of humans. The AI doesn't sleep, doesn't need breaks, and follows best practices automatically.

After working with hundreds of designers and developers over the years, the AI often produces better results. Faster too.

Most domain investors are non-technical. I know this because I've been in this space for decades.

But domain investors have always had the core skill of having keen attention to detail when they hunt for names to register and acquire. This attention to detail translates perfectly to vibe coding because you're constantly evaluating what works and what doesn't, iterating until you get exactly what you envisioned.

    Why This Moment Matters

The data tells the story. 92% of U.S.-based developers are already using AI coding tools both in and outside of work.

The market projections show AI-powered website builders expanding from $3.17 billion in 2023 to $31.5 billion by 2033. That's nearly 10x growth in a decade.

Domain investors who understand this shift have a massive advantage. We can now build equity into our assets without technical teams.

But there's a skill hierarchy here that most people miss.

    Building Equity vs Holding Assets

Here's where domain investors split into two camps.

The traditionalists worry that putting anything on a premium domain will decrease its perceived value. They have a point if the site is garbage.

But if you build something that lives up to the caliber of the domain, you create a much more valuable asset.

Take my domain EVChargers.com as an example. What else would I build there? I'm not selling TVs or refrigerators.

I'm building content, getting press mentions, and creating backlinks all related to the EV charging market. Every piece of equity I add reinforces the domain's natural positioning.

The key is matching the build to the domain's inherent meaning.

Category-defining domains like EVChargers.com, EducationalToys.com, or HomeSafes.com have clear contexts. Building within that context only increases value.

    The Trust Shortcut Applied

This connects directly to what I call the Trust Shortcut. Premium domains give instant credibility. AI execution makes that credibility actionable.

When I'm building landing pages for Signage.com, I start by feeding their current page into ChatGPT. I tell it to act as a UI/UX developer and extract the design system.

Then I ask for that as a prompt I can feed into Lovable or Bolt.

The AI code editor creates a starting point that looks almost identical to their current page. From there, I can add or remove elements for new landing pages.

This process shortcuts days of work and eliminates the need for a web designer on every project.

The result is professional-quality pages that reinforce the domain's credibility while testing new ideas quickly.

    The Window Is Open

There's a subset of domain investors who refuse to consider development. They say it's a waste of time and they just want to flip domains.

I don't knock that approach if it's working for them financially.

But for those who are considering building on their domains, vibe coding removes the biggest barriers. Time, skill, and technical intelligence are no longer requirements.

You can literally speak your ideas to the AI and watch them come to life.

The investors who embrace this early will have two revenue streams instead of one. They can still sell domains, but they can also build equity into their favorites.

AI will continue getting better at filling technical gaps. Eventually, anyone will be able to speak their vision into an AI code editor and get exactly what they intended.

We're not there yet, which creates the current opportunity.

Domain investors who start learning vibe coding now will be positioned as advanced users when the tools become mainstream.

The window is open. The tools work. The market is growing.

The question isn't whether vibe coding will transform how domain investors build equity. The question is whether they'll be early or late to figure it out.
